DANIEL | Thoughts on a Time to Choose

“The administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds
for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government
affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no
corruption in him, because he was trustworthy
and neither corrupt nor negligent.” Daniel 6:4

Insight

The story of Daniel in the lion’s den teaches us about the
promises and faithfulness of God. We know that God protected
Daniel from the lions because Daniel was faithful to God.

In the first ten verses of Daniel 6, we learn that Daniel was a
proven leader. He was recognized for his good work and spirit.
He was to be considered by the king for leadership over the
entire advising court. Daniel lived in true devotion to God. He was
unwilling to compromise with the ungodly cultural mandates. Just
think how easy it could have been for him to relinquish his beliefs
when faced with the lion’s den.

Daniel represents the character that we seek in our leaders.
God-fearing men and women who will not be swayed by media,
money, or popularity gains. We need men and women who
serve God, know right from wrong, and are concerned with the
betterment of our country.

Prayer

Lord, as we pray for our country, we ask that the qualities of
Daniel be found in our leaders and those whom we elect. We
ask for Your protection on our governing authorities and those
who are campaigning. We thank You for Your faithfulness to us,
and we ask for You to grant us strength and guidance in this
election season. Do not let us be swayed and do not let us give
in to pressures, but to stay true to You and Your word. In Jesus’
name we pray, Amen.
