“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; . . .
He removes king and sets up other kings.” Daniel 2:20-21
Insight
When it comes to human government, God the Father is the
prime authority (the “King of kings”), and the prime mover. As
we seek better human government, as we seek more “justice” –
which is the primary task of human government – we should ask
the Lord to send better rulers, and to send more justice. Proverbs
29:26 says “Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from
the Lord that one gets justice.” And Jesus said in Luke 18:7, “…
will not God give justice to His elect, who cry out to Him day and
night? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly.”
One key way He brings us justice is by bringing us just rulers!
So let us look primarily to God for good government. Let us cry
out to God often (“day and night”) for justice. Let us persistently
ask Him to raise up good, godly rulers, and He will!
Prayer
O God, King of kings, You who remove kings and set up other
kings, we cry out to You in this crisis moment to send us righteous
and just rulers. In Jesus’ name, Amen
