How many of you like to win? I do…I still do! Well, the Lord wants us to win, as well. That’s pretty clear when Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, wrote to the church in Corinth, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.”
I Corinthians 9:24
The reason it was so important to win growing up is that it made me feel like I had value…that I was worth something after all. Since asking Jesus into my heart and learning how to win spiritually speaking by being pleasing to God, I cannot be defeated! Now I say, “I am not defeated, and I will not quit!” When Jesus wins…I win! It’s important to learn what God says about winning. Here’s a few words of wisdom from the Word of God that has set me on the winning track:
- “The fear (reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” (Proverbs 1:7)
- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
- “My child, be attentive to My words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight…” (Proverbs 4:20)
- “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family.” (Proverbs 6:16-19)
- “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:3-4)
You’ll be a winner every time!
