Nothing But the Blood of Jesus | Ajai Prakash | The Well of Iowa

• What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen or heard in church?
• Why might some people have a hard time accepting that Jesus’ blood is the only thing that can bring salvation?

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Some people think of Christians as boring folks who obey a bunch of old laws and never have any fun. They don’t know how much fun we can have in church, how much fun we can have together. Most churches work hard at creating fun programs, for both kids and adults: youth groups, concerts, cookouts, Softball leagues … the list goes on and on.
But we always need to remember that it’s not all fun and games. There’s a reason that we are free to have so much joy, and that reason is the blood of Jesus. We must never take our salvation for granted.
We can be thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice. We can be in awe of our heavenly Father who made it possible. We can celebrate what it means for us. But we can never treat it lightly or take it for granted. The cost was too high. Our salvation required the blood of Jesus Christ. He suffered and died to save us. We cannot forget that.

Prayer: Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of his Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long!

(lyrics by Fanny Crosby)
