All in With God

“I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me! When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted. I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help.” Psalm 77:1-3

There are times in a believer’s life when the suffering and heartache is so great and seemingly insurmountable that we do not even know how to pray. The presence of God seems so far away, and we wonder why He has left us. With the overwhelming weight that has descended, we join the psalmist with groaning and shouting and questions. Where is the compassion of the Lord? Has the LORD rejected me forever?

Naturally, pain has us focused on self, but Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened” (Matthew 11:28). In 1 Peter 5:7, God’s child is reminded to, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Our pain cannot heal without the touch of the Savior.

So, who does Jesus address? Who is the all? What is the all?

There are multiple definitions of all according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Here’s a few.

So, what will Jesus do for the all, the every member who is heavily burdened and comes to him in hope, humility, reverence, love, and truth?

Psalm 145 answers that question. The LORD upholds all who fall. The LORD raises up all who are bowed down. The LORD gives food and satisfies every living thing. The LORD is near to all those who call. The LORD protects all. The LORD hears, grants and rescues.

Our Great God and King has the whole amount of what you need, and he cares for you. He is righteous in all his ways, loving in all his works, good to all, and compassionate toward all his works. His kingdom endures through all generations. Praise the LORD! He is worthy, and no one can measure his greatness!

So, come! Come and ask (James 2:2). Come with clean hands and a pure heart (Psalm 66:18). Come to the all-knowing, all-powerful, always present God of the universe who owns all things and hears our cries for help.

Prayer: Lord, I come to you now with all my needs and cares and give them to You, in Jesus’ name. Thank you that in You I lack no good thing. I praise You as God of the universe who owns it all. In all circumstances, I will put all my hope in You alone, and I will trust for Your all to be given according to Your promises. I intercede for those who cannot seem to pray for themselves, and I ask that they will be comforted by Your compassion and mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
